Buying the material yourself is fine. What matters is that someone checks the product, the quantity and the subfloor before the first plank is cut.

Overview

Professional installation for flooring you already bought

Labor-only installation means you provide the flooring and we provide the crew, the tools and the workmanship. It suits homeowners who caught a sale, ordered a specific product online or had material left from a builder. We install customer-supplied luxury vinyl plank, laminate and tile, and the work is done to the same standard as a job where we source the material.

What is included: a check that the product is the right type and quantity for the rooms, confirmation that it has acclimated, removal of the old floor if needed, subfloor and slab preparation, the installation itself, transitions at doorways and floor changes, and baseboards or quarter round. For a tile installation that also means layout, setting, grouting and sealing where the grout calls for it.

What is not included: the flooring itself, and any warranty on the product. If a box arrives damaged, a plank has a factory defect or a dye lot does not match, that claim goes to the store or manufacturer you bought from. We will point out problems we see before installing, because most manufacturers treat an installed plank as an accepted plank. Our workmanship is covered separately, as described on our warranty page.

What's Included

What labor-only installation includes and what it does not

Material & Acclimation Check

We confirm the product suits the room, count boxes against the measured square footage plus waste, and check that it has sat in the conditioned house as the manufacturer requires.

  • Quantity checked against the measure
  • Visible defects flagged
  • Acclimation confirmed

Subfloor & Slab Prep

Old flooring, adhesive and tack strips come out, and the subfloor is flattened and cleaned. Preparation is written into the estimate, not added on installation day.

  • Removal of old flooring
  • High and low spots corrected
  • Moisture checked on slabs

Installation

Your flooring is installed to the manufacturer's instructions so the product warranty you hold stays valid: correct underlayment, expansion gaps, stagger and layout.

  • Installed to manufacturer specs
  • Door jambs undercut
  • Layout planned before cutting

Transitions & Baseboards

Doorways and floor-height changes get the right transition profile, and baseboards or quarter round finish the perimeter.

  • T-moldings and reducers
  • Baseboards reinstalled or replaced
  • Quarter round where needed

Not Included: Materials

You supply the flooring and matching trim pieces. The estimate spells out who is providing underlayment, setting materials and transition strips so nothing is missing on day one.

  • Flooring supplied by you
  • Supply list in the estimate
  • No guessing at the store

Not Included: Product Warranty

Defects in the material, finish wear and dye-lot differences are covered by the manufacturer or retailer, not by the installer. Keep your receipt and one box label.

  • Product claims go to the seller
  • Keep receipts and labels
  • Workmanship covered separately

Our Process

How a labor-only flooring job works

01

Tell Us What You Bought

Send the product name, the square footage on the boxes and a few photos of the rooms. That is enough for a first conversation.

02

In-Home Measurement

We measure the rooms, check the subfloor and compare the quantity you have to what the job needs, including waste.

03

Written Estimate

The estimate lists the labor, the preparation and any supplies we are bringing, so it is clear who provides what.

04

Material On Site & Acclimated

The flooring needs to be in the home, in the air conditioning, for the period the manufacturer specifies before installation day.

05

Prep & Install

Old flooring is removed, the subfloor is prepared and your material is installed to the manufacturer's instructions.

06

Trim & Walkthrough

Transitions and baseboards go on, the rooms are cleaned and we walk the floor with you. Leftover material stays with you for future repairs.

FAQ

Labor-Only Installation Questions

Yes. We install customer-supplied LVP, laminate and tile. Before the job is booked we look at the product and the rooms, because some materials are not suited to certain areas, such as laminate in a bathroom.

All of the flooring on site, stored flat inside the air-conditioned home for the acclimation period the manufacturer specifies, plus the matching transitions and trim if you bought them. Garages and storage units do not count as acclimation because the temperature and humidity are different from inside the house.

We compare your quantity to the measured area during the estimate, including a waste allowance for cuts and layout. If you are short, it is far better to order more before we start, since a later order can come from a different dye lot and may not match.

The manufacturer or the store you bought from. We flag visible defects, damaged boxes and mismatched lots before installing so you can make the claim. Our own workmanship is covered separately from the product.

It depends on the type of flooring, the square footage, what has to be removed and how much subfloor preparation is needed. See our pricing page for how we price flooring work, or call (904) 520-1994 for a free written estimate.
