Subfloor Prep & Leveling • Jacksonville, FL
Every good floor starts underneath. Braga Remodeling prepares and levels subfloors in Jacksonville homes before installing luxury vinyl plank, vinyl or tile — because the finished floor can only be as flat as what sits below it.
Braga Remodeling is a Jacksonville remodeling contractor specializing in bathroom remodeling, kitchen remodeling, paver installation, luxury vinyl plank flooring and tile installation.

Overview
Vinyl plank follows the shape of the subfloor. Tile cracks or sounds hollow when the substrate moves or is not flat. Neither product fixes a bad floor underneath — they reveal it. That is why we treat preparation as its own stage of the job, not something squeezed into installation day.
Typical preparation includes clearing adhesive, staples and tack strips left by the old floor, securing loose or squeaking areas, grinding down high spots, filling low spots, and confirming the substrate is clean and sound before anything new goes down.
We check all of this during the free in-home measurement and tell you what the floor actually needs. If preparation is required, it goes in the written estimate up front rather than appearing as a surprise mid-job.
Flatness checked room by room
High and low spots identified
Old adhesive and fasteners cleared
Clean, sound substrate
Squeaks and loose areas secured
Quiet floor underfoot
Priced in the estimate
No mid-job surprises
Preparation Work
Low spots filled and high spots ground down so the substrate is within tolerance for the flooring being installed.
Adhesive residue, thinset, staples and tack strips removed so nothing telegraphs through the new floor.
Loose panels re-fastened and squeaks addressed where they can be reached, so the new floor sits quiet and stable.
Tile substrates get their own treatment, including the flatness tolerance large-format tile needs and waterproofing in wet areas.
Our Process
We check the existing floor, the substrate and problem areas while measuring your rooms.
Whatever preparation the floor needs is written into the estimate before the project is booked.
Old flooring, adhesive, staples and debris come out and the substrate is cleaned down.
Flattening and repairs completed, then the substrate is rechecked before installation begins.
